4 Find a Lost Quickbooks Product & License Number
QuickBooks accounting software comes with a license number that is used to verify that your copy was purchased legitimately. If you accidentally entered the wrong number during your initial product registration process, you may have issues using the program. Most programs require you to search through the Windows system registry to fix a registration mistake. Fortunately, you can access your QuickBooks registry file right from the application window and fix your registration error with a simple text editor.
2.
Press the 'F2' key to access the Product Registration screen.
3.
Press the 'F3' key to access the Tech Help application.
5.
Click to select 'qbregistration.dat' from the list of files.
6.
Click 'Open File' to open the 'qbregistration.dat' file. If the file does not automatically open in Notepad, select 'Notepad' from the list of available programs and click 'OK.'
7.
Replace the 'LicenseNumber' value with your correct license number, including the dashes. Do not remove any text brackets.
10.
Close and reopen your QuickBooks application to apply the license number change.
